Relevant to all levels of riders and experience levels from beginner to advanced, and all disciplines. Glenn's program is designed to teach the intangibles - feel and timing - the things most people think cannot be learned. In this Horsemanship Intensive, we will focus on Stage 3 and higher in Glenn’s Stages Program. During these 8 days, you will deepen your savvy and horsemanship learning a variety of advanced exercises. You will develop the emotional fitness for both horse and rider building upon mutual understanding and responsibilities. This Horsemanship Camp at The Horse Ranch builds on what you've learned in Stage 1 and includes Stage 2 where you are improving the skills you have learned. You will be learning new rein positions and exercises in the saddle. You will learn one-rein riding techniques and begin creating your independent seat. Stage 2 includes: Improving ground skills Handling the feet One-rein riding Indirect, direct and supporting reins Rail exercises "As you progress, you enter into higher Stages in the program. Glenn is the reigning Champion of the first "Heart of the Horse: Colt Starting Competition" winning first place and the $10,000 purse in September 2019. Join us in 2020 as Glenn defends his title against two world-class horseman. About the Event: The 2020 Heart of the Horse event will take place at the Silver Sage Community Corral in Brooks, Alberta September 11-13, 2020. A beautiful facility, Silver Sage Arena (NEW VENUE) is a multi-purpose agricultural grounds and indoor riding facility in the heart of southern Alberta. The main building features a 100 X 185 heated riding arena and is equipped with arena level concession, spectator seating and ample display space. A second-floor viewing area and lounge are also available. Off the main arena is a 100 X 80 warm-up arena with rolling overhead doors into the main arena. Heart of the Horse is an event that is designed to recognize the heart and unbelievable abilities of both horse and trainer. It will showcase the true art of horsemanship through a colt starting competition, demonstrations and mini-clinics to spread knowledge and understanding and top-notch featured entertainment. Saturday evening - grab your seat and watch expert horse folks demonstrating various disciplines, a meet and greet with the colt-starting competitors and live music. The colt starting competition is an informative and extremely entertaining event where 3 trainers choose a colt from a herd and, over the course of 3 days, compete to start and train at the highest level to win the competition. On the final day, the trainers must attempt several challenges and an obstacle course before the winner is determined. Along with the colt starting competition, the event features a trade show and equine industry-related highlights for the guests in attendance. Food for purchase is available onsite and a variety of ticket packages are available. Parking is free.
